Darwin Ford Rangerettes Official Paradise Bush Camp

Darwin Ford Rangerettes Official Paradise Bush Camp

This weekend, the NT Ford Rangerettes Official Darwin mob had a great impromptu overnighter trip to Dundee Beach.

We initially met up at the Darwin 4WD, Boating & Camping Expo where we indulged in caravan dreams and drooled over all the sleek 4x4 upgrades!

After looking at all the amazing exhibitors and hustling our way out, we made a beeline for Berry Springs Tavern

This place is well known to us Territorians for its cold drinks, hot meals, and the infamous wedges that nobody needs but everyone wants!

With lunch sorted, we were back on the road heading towards the coastline.

Amidst the channel 38 UHF banter, it was great fun getting to practise our convoy work with some more long term members on their first Rangerettes catchup!

It can be a challenge navigating local wildlife, slow-moving caravanners and families heading to school holiday camps, so good radio communication is key!

Dundee Bush Camp is an oasis in the middle of the bush and a favourite pull up location for our ladies 4x4 Club!

Not only does owner Ali extend the warmest hospitality, but you are immediately enchanted by the natural bushland, the loo with a view, and the outdoor shower surrounded by pandanus and native flowering turkey bush.

They really think of everything here. Firewood, homemade oil drums with cooking grills attached, mozzie coils and toilet paper.

A perfect location for families or groups like ours!

After unpacking some gear, we jumped back in the Rangers and took off for a little offroading adventure to Stingray Head.

We stopped at the Finnis Station gates to deflate the tyres for a smoother cruise over the coffee rock.

Upon reaching the cliffs, we were greeted by the beautiful vast ocean overlooking the Timor Sea.

We parked up to watch the sunset.

This place is truly magical and it's hard to not feel connected to the land.

As the sun set, we chased each other's dust back to camp where the fire crackled, country tunes played, and good ol’ camping night chats began.

The full moon rose, inviting some to take advantage of the amazing outdoor shower.

If you have never showered under the moonlight after a day on the road, you are truly missing out!

We snuggled into our swags and tents, enjoying the overnight low of 13 degrees, our Northern Territory winter.

The next morning, we savoured coffee with leftover cold pizza, coffee and chocolate balls.

Before heading back to city life, we packed up our bush camp and drove down to check out the newly built Dundee Beach Holiday Park for some good fresh coffee.

It was time to say goodbye to Dundee Beach and convoy our way home.

We are already reminiscing about the weekend’s adventures.

All members are a tad more sun kissed but very relaxed and ready to plan the next Club catch up.
